Font Comms joins the team behind plans to overhaul Chorlton Shopping Centre site

Font Comms has joined the experienced team set to design and deliver a new chapter for the Chorlton shopping centre site.

Manchester-based developer PJ Livesey Group was appointed by Greater Manchester Pension Fund this spring to lead the transformation of the site – a strategic priority for Manchester.

Now, Font Comms has been appointed to support the team on communications and community engagement ahead of a planning application being submitted to Manchester City Council.

The Font team joins award-winning architects practice Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCB Studios), appointed to work alongside the in-house architectural team on designs for a residential-led development.

It’s planned for regeneration of the site to feature new homes and high-quality retail spaces aimed at independent operators, alongside lush landscaping.

A staged approach to consulting local stakeholders and the community is now underway.

Font Comms founder, Rebecca Eatwell, said: “This is an exciting project to be working on alongside a talented team. I lived in Chorlton for years, so it means a lot personally to now be playing a part in the next chapter for the precinct site.

“PJ Livesey has a fantastic track record for delivering super high quality communities. We’ll be working with them to consult Chorlton’s active and engaged community as the initial designs take shape.”

PJ Livesey development director, James Woodmansee, said: “The site presents a huge opportunity to create something very special that not only provides a wide mix of new housing but serves the mix of retail operators that make Chorlton so special.

“We will be working with the best architects and consultants to make this happen and we want to take the residents of Chorlton on this journey with us.”
